Krishna is an Associate Professor at the UCD School of Politics and International Relations (SPIRe). He currently serves as the Director of the PhD programme in Global Human Development and is a Fellow at UCD Geary Institute. Krishna served as a SFI Public Service Fellow with the Evidence Policy Unit of the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (DEFHERIS), Ministry of Higher Education, Government of Ireland in 2024-25. Krishna chaired the SPIRe Athena Swan Silver Award process, co-chaired the SPIRe Athena Swan Bronze Award, and previously served as Chair of the SPIRe Athena Swan Implementation Committee.

He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Heidelberg, Germany. He defended his dissertation under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Axel Dreher in September 2012. He served as a Junior Professor at the Norwegian University of Science & Technology (NTNU), Norway, and as a Research Fellow at the University of Göttingen, Germany. He is Editor of Journal of International Development. He served on the editorial board committees of Journal of Peace Research (JPR) [2013-2022] and International Area Studies Review (IASR) [2016 - 2021]. He regularly provides consulting for corporate clients in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Kenya and policy thinktanks like the Fraser Institute (Canada), Varieties of Democracy (V-Dem) project (Sweden), Global Development Network (GDN), NISTD, DFHERIS, among others.

 

Krishna has lived in India, Sri Lanka, Spain, Germany, Norway and now Ireland. He has been working with multicultural and multidisciplinary (e.g., Politics, Economics, Finance & Banking, Management, Public Health, Sociology, Anthropology, Law, etc) students, research scholars, and Professors. 

Research interest: Sub-national development politics in India; Political economy of Aid, FDI, and Natural Resources.
